Unicomm s.r.l is a major player in the Italian retail world. It has more than 270 direct outlets to which are added the numerous affiliated stores. The company operates in the territory with seven signs: Emisfero Ipermercati, Famila, Mega and Emi for medium-sized stores, A&O for proximity stores, C+C Cash&Carry for wholesale, and Hurrà for discount stores.
.onRetail and Soti Mobi Control are the solutions Unicomm has decided to adopt to manage its points of sale and remotely govern its fleet of 1,500 mobile devices by zeroing downtime, minimizing device travel and shipping costs, improving the quality of employees’ work.
Over its nearly 70-year history, Unicomm has grown to be present today in 7 regions and 32 provinces in Italy. With more than 1,500 devices in the field, a lot of resources and time were needed to support operators and manage the devices.
Unicomm needed cutting-edge technology that would enable widespread, real-time control of mobile devices needed for retail management activities, as well as a wide range of features to facilitate specific configuration according to the different needs of stores in the territory.
It used to be that IT staff spent a lot of time on the phone or traveling to troubleshoot any malfunctions and provide assistance to their colleagues in the stores. This meant in some cases long phone calls or waits for troubleshooting, disruptions in operations, and significant travel and device shipment costs if the problem could not be resolved quickly.
Unicomm relied on Aton’s experience and chose .onRetail for point-of sale process management directly in front of the shelf and the SOTI ONE platform for remote management of its mobile device fleet.
.onRetail increases the productivity and efficiency of all its stores. The solution, developed on the Android platform, allows the store operator to manage through rugged devices or consumer tools such as tablets and smartphones all daily activities-from ordering to suppliers and distribution centers, to inventory, to handling products directly from the shelf, to checking displayed prices and printing labels on time, to receiving goods from suppliers on direct delivery. Store operations can take place in front of the shelf, working in areas covered by wifi or not, without the need to go to fixed locations.
By combining the SOTI ONE solution and Aton’s Service Desk an ecosystem capable of supporting stre operators and Unicomm IT teams across the board has been created.
Point-of-sale associates know they can count on a team of professionals familiar with applications, devices, and processes typical of the Unicomm point-of-sale for a quick and timely response. With a simple click, all devices in the different stores are updated, and technicians can fix any anomalies by intervening directly in the device, minimizing travel and downtime for store colleagues. The time saved is devoted to more core activities for the company, improving the quality of employee’s work, their level of engagement and customer satisfaction.
