We attended Liquid Gas Week, the international LPG industry event, held this year from 12 to 15 October at the Istanbul Congress Center. More than 200 industry players were there, many represented by their senior leaders, which makes it the place to be for anyone working in liquid gas.

This year’s theme was resilience, at a time of real uncertainty. The focus was on the industry’s need, and its ability, to keep delivering reliable energy while supply, prices and regulations keep shifting.
For an LPG distributor, this comes down to everyday decisions: when to send out a tanker, which tank to check, how much product to buy. In uncertain times, each of these decisions weighs more heavily on costs, and mistakes are expensive.
This year we chose to play an active part in shaping change by contributing to the Global Technology Conference, where we presented Smart Tank, the solution developed in partnership with SPINSystem.
Smart Tank helps LPG distributors optimise their operations. With continuous monitoring of both the product and the condition of the tank, refills and maintenance are planned on real data. The result is fewer empty runs, fewer emergency call-outs and lower operating costs. When a telemetry system goes down, many companies are left wondering who to call: the hardware supplier, the network operator or the software house? Smart Tank provides a single point of responsibility that integrates hardware and software, is accountable for the entire system and delivers the data as a service. Distributors are then free to focus on their core business, which is getting energy to their customers.

One trend came through clearly over the week: LPG is being used in a widening range of applications, in homes, businesses, industry and agriculture. Several sessions also discussed rising demand in many markets, particularly in Latin America and Africa.
More applications and more markets mean more tanks, more cylinders and more delivery points to manage. Without data across the supply chain, that complexity turns into cost. To meet these challenges, distributors will need a single view of the entire supply chain, from the customer’s tank to the truck making the delivery. This is the idea behind our work on .one for LPG bringing together in one platform the data that today sits scattered across different systems.
The next Liquid Gas Week will take place in Houston from 8 to 12 November 2027. In the meantime, if you’d like to find out how digitalisation can help optimise your company’s operations and processes, get in touch and we’ll find the solution that best fits your needs together.
Smart Tank is a remote monitoring solution for LPG tanks developed by Aton in partnership with SPINSystem. It integrates hardware, software and telemetry to collect data on both the product and the condition of the tank, helping distributors plan refills and maintenance based on real-time data.
Telemetry allows LPG distributors to monitor tanks remotely and plan operations using up-to-date data. It helps reduce unnecessary journeys, emergency call-outs and operating costs, while improving refill planning and the management of distribution networks.
Digitalising the LPG supply chain brings together data on tanks, deliveries and day-to-day operations. Greater visibility across the supply chain helps distributors manage growing distribution networks, make informed decisions and reduce the costs associated with fragmented systems.
Integration requires a platform that can collect and connect data from different systems. With .one for LPG, Aton aims to bring together data from across the supply chain, from the customer’s tank to the delivery truck, giving distributors a more complete view of their operations.
Operational continuity depends on reliable access to data and coordinated support across hardware, connectivity and software. Smart Tank provides a single point of responsibility for the entire monitoring system, making it easier to resolve issues and helping distributors reduce unplanned call-outs and operational inefficiencies.
