.People 2025: our sustainability footprint

06/10/2026

A fingerprint is a uniquely human mark. It sets each of us apart and lets us leave our imprint on the world, which is why it’s the perfect image for how we think about artificial intelligence.

AI is a remarkable accelerator, but people stay in the driving seat, choosing the direction and deciding when to put their foot down. And when technology handles the repetitive, low-value tasks that eat up our time, we can make more room for what algorithms can’t do: creating, making decisions and building relationships.

This is why the fingerprint is the guiding image for our new .People, the Impact Assessment Report in which, as a Benefit Corporation and B Corp™, we measure the economic, social and environmental impact we created in 2025.

We discussed it with Tania Zanatta, Aton’s CFO and Impact Manager.

.People: a year that left its mark. Why?

In a cautious market environment, we chose to invest in people, spaces, technology and governance. Today’s results confirm that the decisions we made a year ago have had a positive impact on both our financial performance and operational efficiency, reinforcing something I have always believed: financial strength and social and environmental impact are not separate paths. They are integral parts of the same journey.

Governance: how does it guide our growth transparently and in line with our values?

Innovation is like a train in motion, constantly moving forward, and in a tech company like Aton it shapes strategic and organisational decisions. As a Benefit Corporation and B Corp™, we want to manage this evolution responsibly and follow a clear direction. That is why we voluntarily adopted the Organisational Model 231 and Code of Ethics, translating the principles of responsibility, legality and transparency that have always guided us into clear behaviours and compliant practices, supported by recognised frameworks. This journey has led us to achieve three stars in Italy’s Legality Rating, the highest score awarded by the Italian Competition Authority.

Let’s talk about people: 50.2% women, 19 nationalities, 77% Millennials and Gen Z. What do these figures tell us?

They describe a young, international company with a female presence well above the average for the ICT sector.
Our gender equality certification, achieved in 2025 with an average gender pay gap of less than 5%, reflects our commitment to creating a fair and inclusive workplace where every atonpeople can grow, be heard and be recognised for the value they bring.
This is also confirmed by our Great Place To Work® certification, renewed for the sixth year, with 90% of atonpeople saying that Aton is an excellent place to work.

Technology: how does AI improve the quality of our work and our impact on customers?

AI has become an ally for all our teams, from Business Continuity, where 16 AI agents support the work of 90 atonpeople, to the Software Factory and Delivery teams.
Here, software testing time has been reduced by 40% and documentation drafting time by 70%, allowing people to focus more on customer relationships and their own professional growth.

How do our Research & Development activities reflect our commitment to sustainable innovation?

In 2025, we invested 8.4% of our revenue in R&D, 30% more than in 2024. This represents more than 6,000 working days dedicated to integrating AI into our .one platform across three application areas with strong potential to improve our customers’ sustainability:

  • predictive models and data analysis in the energy sector, helping companies reduce waste and emissions linked to unproductive journeys
  • AI in sales solutions for consumer goods, increasing sales force productivity and improving the quality of work by reducing repetitive tasks
  • AI for the automatic reconciliation of orders, delivery notes and invoices in retail, simplifying organisational processes while improving the quality of work and reducing processing times and management costs.

One of this year’s flagship projects is the new .Casa Aton: what will its environmental footprint be?

The space we work in says a great deal about how we care for both people and the planet. In July 2025, during .onSummer, we opened the first refurbished area, featuring more efficient systems, LED lighting and a consumption monitoring system. The building has already improved from energy rating E to C. Once the work is complete, our goal is to achieve a B rating or higher.

And what about our impact beyond the company, in the wider community?

The third edition of .atonAcademy, our free training programme open to everyone and inspired by the workshops of the Renaissance, attracted 650 participants and awarded 2,380 certificates, creating six new opportunities for quality employment.

Looking ahead, what are the next challenges?

Growing sustainably means asking ourselves questions, as Giorgio De Nardi writes in his opening letter to the Report: why do we innovate? What direction do we want our growth to take? How do we transform the ecosystem around us? How can we govern AI responsibly and consciously? It also means making consistent choices over time and having the courage to invest where and when it matters. That is the path we want to continue following as a “human-centred digital factory”, leaving a distinctive and positive mark.
