In this context, the European Union has allocated funds within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan to make the entire water distribution chain more efficient. The issue is so pressing that it was also the central theme of the ACCADUEO trade fair we attended last week in Bologna: three days of discussion on key topics linked to the ecological transition and the benefits of digitalisation.

If the goal in the coming years is to achieve a more efficient water network, it is crucial to reduce losses, digitalise processes and monitor distribution performance indicators.

All this can be achieved by introducing advanced control systems that enable:

• optimal resource management,
• reduced waste,
• fewer inefficiencies.

Digital solutions for the water sector

At Aton, we have always been active in the field of telemetry, focusing on traceability, monitoring and the optimisation of processes across the entire supply chain. We are already running remote monitoring projects with several organisations, including Water Consortia.

The proposed solution is designed for monitoring water levels in reservoirs located in remote areas, ensuring proper distribution and supply to the relevant municipalities.

Our .onMeter platform allows remote-control devices to be connected, giving operators the ability to monitor via a mobile app (Android and iOS):

• reservoir levels,
• daily, weekly and monthly consumption accounting,
• water supply pressure,
• any power outages.

With this solution, it is also possible to prevent and report potential faults or tampering: alerts can be sent by email or SMS to the relevant contacts, enabling prompt intervention and reducing disruptions to water distribution.
