What are the key elements of a retail management application?

As we have already seen in the large-scale retail world, in cases such as Unicomm and Gruppo Poli:

  • For the store operator, it is essential to manage typical store activities directly in front of the shelf: this way, they have all head office data at their fingertips and can ensure greater continuity of in-aisle operations without having to constantly return to the back-office system.
  • For the head office, it is strategic to have a web console to manage the critical mass of data coming from stores (orders, inventory, goods receipt, etc.) and to handle and configure all devices remotely.

These elements are important not only in large-scale retail, but also in other contexts such as non-food retail. A case in point is Viridea, a chain of garden centres entirely dedicated to garden, home, and pets, which chose our solution to manage reordering, inventory, goods handling, price control and label printing across its stores.

The new application leverages the power and performance (in terms of speed and memory) of Honeywell’s new generation Android devices, enabling the management of a significant volume of data and the development of functionalities not supported by older operating systems.

It is integrated with the Microsoft Navision ERP and includes the management of all daily promotions, allowing the operator to guide the consumer in choosing the best value products.
It also adapts to the Viridea context thanks to the development of specific functionalities for its sector, such as managing operations linked to the sale of live animals.

The expected benefits are:

  • Better customer service, thanks to faster operations on modern devices with an intuitive interface and a rich app ecosystem offered by the Android platform.
  • Lower costs and reduced execution time for in-store activities.
  • Reduced management costs for the 130 devices used by store staff.

Retailers like Viridea can also rely on an end-to-end continuous support service for their stores, provided by the Aton Retail Service Desk.
