Innovation is the keyword of our time, especially in the world of retail.

In an increasingly competitive and dynamic market, it is essential to be able to adapt to change and to customers’ needs, offering them effective and personalised solutions. That is why, starting today, I would like to introduce the latest innovations we are implementing in .one Retail, the retail management system with a mobile app that helps you manage your stores in the best possible way.

These are new functional modules that will enable you to optimise operations and processes within your business, thanks to the use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and augmented reality. Together with the software factory team, I will show you how these modules work and the benefits you can gain from these new technologies.

Are you ready to discover the future of .one Retail

Mobile technology: what’s new

The technology available to us today allows us to increase productivity, making applications smarter and more user-centred. All this should not spill over into excess, which is why it is important to tailor technological developments to their context of use.

Below, I am pleased to share the technologies that have been introduced into Aton’s software and the benefits they have brought.

Tecnologie mobile - Gestures - Aton

Gestures

Using your fingers on the screen is now the ABC of any mobile application, and this evolution has also made its way into the business world. These developments often raise the question: “Is it possible to do the same things without gestures?” The answer is: absolutely yes — but it requires dedicated screens and flows whose sole purpose is to bring obsolete methods into contexts where users now expect to be able to swipe or long press.

Tecnologia mobile - Fotocamera - Aton

Camera: the mobile technology for barcode reading

The ultimate tool remains the rugged industrial device, which comes with a set of accessories and a robustness that still prevail in certain contexts. It is equally true that the differences between smartphones and industrial devices are becoming increasingly narrow. This evolution makes it possible to use compatible devices and resolve emergencies with a significant reduction in time and costs. Let’s take the example of an inventory.

With the ‘traditional’ system, headquarters always has a set of devices available to ship when needed. This involves maintaining a warehouse, preparing and dispatching terminals, and managing their return. By using the camera, the door is also opened to the world of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). This means that all you need is a compatible device to launch a terminal within a few minutes and use it for as long as required. A significant cost saving!

Augmented reality: the innovation of mobile technology

With the use of the camera, why not go a step further? Why not speed up certain processes even more when a barcode is scanned? This is why Aton has integrated this fantastic technology, which makes it possible to ‘augment’ the informationeven from different systemsand overlay it graphically on the barcode. This scenario has a significant impact on usage, productivity, and training:

  • Usage — because it means speeding up and improving the user experience.
  • Productivity — because the immediate display of information helps to speed up decision-making or, better still, to increase awareness of the information itself.
  • Training — to this day, we are still used to environments where a new hire is properly trained by existing staff rather than by leafing through documentation. With this technology, training takes place in the field, as our applications help the user operate in the most correct way, reducing errors.

Let’s take the example shown here and analyse this representation together.

Tecnologia mobile - Realtà aumentata - Aton

The image provides a wealth of information about the scanned item:

  • Green box over the barcode: item available for use in the function,
  • Description of the scanned item,
  • Entered quantity,
  • Green dot: item available to order,
  • Orange dot: item on promotion,
  • Date and quantity of last stocktake,
  • Date and quantity of last incoming delivery,
  • Selling price,
  • Headquarters stock level.

This is an example of the information we can host, and it is our User Interface Team that ensures a targeted, uncluttered user experience.

And let’s remember — all of this is customisable!

Notifications

We live in the era of mobility, and as such, we can no longer expect the user to go looking for information — this is why we use notifications!

The user can receive notifications automatically generated by the system or created and sent from headquarters. Notifications have different priority levels, making them suitable for both service communications (e.g. the order has been processed) and urgent messages (e.g. food alert). Another effective way to connect headquarters and stores.

Mobile technology: what’s next?

This is only the first instalment, and many more innovations await you: it’s not about who gets there first, but who adopts technologies in the best possible way. We are keen to convey the enthusiasm and commitment that Aton is dedicating to research, development, and the innovation of its solutions — not only to keep them up to date, but also to protect the investments and trust our customers have placed in us over time.

Aton — a step into the future!

Would you like to know more about the new technologies Aton is working on? Stay tuned!
